Creating the Wise Men's Map

The first thing to know about the wise men's map is that it is a map of all possible truths in all possible minds. Thus despite the word "body" appearing at the bottom end of the vertical axis, this map is not a map of the body. Just the mind.

At the same time, this map does include what the mind thinks of the body. So seeing the word "body" on the map can be confusing. If this confuses you, just try to remember the following ideas.

When you see the word "mind," this indicates how the mind see the mind.
When you see the word "body,' this indicates how the mind see the body.
When you see the word "theory," this indicates how the mind sees things that never change.
And when you see the words "real world," this indicates how the mind see things that constantly change.

The next thing to know is the order in which a map gets created. All maps use the same five steps.

[1] draw the cross of truth (the vertical axis and the horizontal axis).
[2] assign the two tipping-point based questions to the two axes.
[3] place the four answers to these two questions at the ends of the two axes.
[4] combine adjacent answers to create the four truths.
[5] combine adjacent truths to create the four states of truth.

For instance, to draw the wise men's original map:

First [1] you draw the cross of truth.

Then [2] you assign the following two questions.
To the vertical axis, you assign the question, "Is this thing visible?
And to the horizontal axis, you assign the question, "Does this thing change?"

Next [3] you assign the four answers to the two axes.
Top of the vertical axis? Invisible truths.
Bottom of the vertical axis? Visible truths.
Left end of the horizontal axis? Changing truths.
Right end of the horizontal axis? Unchanging truths.

Next [4] you combine adjacent answers to create the four truths.
Invisible Change, the lower right quadrant, becomes the truth known as FACTS.
Visible Change, the lower left quadrant, becomes the truth known as STORIES.
Invisible Unchange, the upper right quadrant, becomes the truth know as IDEAS.
Invisible Change, the upper left quadrant, becomes the truth known as FEELINGS.

Last, [5] you combine adjacent truths, to get the four states of truth.
Facts plus Stories equal PHYSICAL TRUTHS (truth in the body).
Feelings plus Ideas equal MENTAL TRUTHS (truth in the mind).
Facts plus Ideas equal THEORETICAL TRUTHS.
Stories plus Feelings equal REAL WORLD TRUTHS.

Finally, for those who are like me where words are not enough, here's a version of the original map.
